Karen Sunde has published nine plays, a monograph, four 'best new play' scenes, been produced off-Broadway, in regional theatres, on a U.S.A. tour and in 10 countries in seven languages, e.g., Abbey Theatre in Ireland; National Theatre of Turkey; Aalborg State Theatre, Denmark; Chuo Kaikan, Tokyo; and the Moscow Art Theatre. She won the Bob Hope award, three Villager awards, an Aide de la Creation in France, a McKnight fellowship, a Best Play nomination by Outer Critics Circle; her first screenplay was a finalist at Sundance. Commissions: Actor's Theatre of Louisville; People's Light and Theatre; Cheltenham Center for the Arts, Philadelphia; Actor's Theatre of St Paul; Wisdom Bridge; Chicago Shakespeare Theater; Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey; The Working Theatre, New York. In 2004, Unicorn Theatre, Kansas City, premiered How His Bride Came to Abraham. Sunde performed many lead roles off-Broadway at CSC Repertory in New York.
